ISOCARP EVENT – SHAT AL-BASRA PRESENTATION

As part of our participation in the 61st ISOCARP World Planning Congress in Riyadh, Eng. Safaa Al-Mumar, CEO & Technical Director, delivered a specialized presentation on the sustainable transformation of Shat Al-Basra Economic City in Basra.

The presentation introduced an integrated vision to transform the city into a comprehensive development engine, bringing together:

  • Sustainable economic development
  • Cultural identity and place-making
  • Social development and quality of life
  • Environmental sustainability and resource protection

The proposed approach highlighted how riverfront cities and areas with latent potential can be re-imagined through integrated planning frameworks that strengthen the connection between economy, environment, and society.

We are proud to share this contribution on a global platform that brings together planners, urbanists, and decision-makers from around the world, and we value the insightful discussions and knowledge exchange that enriched this experience.
